Welcome to Lessons with Lori Piano Lessons & Tutoring.  Here you will find out information regarding piano lessons that I offer.

 

My programs are different than traditional piano lessons in that I teach to the specific learning style, interests and needs of each of my students.  Each student has their own individual program.  I also teach music holistically: I teach all the skills and theory through the songs I use instead of as separate components.   I compose and arrange a great amount of the music that I use so that I can target specific skills while keeping the students engaged in their learning.  My music is also available for sale on Sheet Music Plus and Sheet Music Direct.

I teach  in-person lessons,  online lessons. or a mixture of  both.  Online lessons are available for students locally, nationally or globally, taught during Atlantic Standard Time/Atlantic Daylight Time and paid in Canadian currency.

How do lessons work with me?

​

• Students attend weekly lessons (online or in-person to my home studio)

• Payment is made at the beginning of the month for that month's lessons.

• Missed lessons are still charged as you have reserved that weekly time slot with me.  I do not guarantee rescheduled lessons as I run a full schedule of students. 

• I follow the school calendar, closing for Christmas Break and March Break (no charge).

• I offer summer lessons, but I run things differently in the summer to accommodate for summer vacations, camps, etc.   

• Students are expected to practice assigned work at home and keep track of their practice as I have a reward program for practicing. Practice techniques will be taught regularly during the lessons, including fun games to use to make practice time fun and engaging.

• Students are committed to attend lessons for the entire school year (September 9, 2025-June 19th, 2026).  Failure to do so will require one month's additional payment of fees from student's last lesson. 

• Most importantly, lessons will be kept fun, engaging and designed specifically to the student's interests and learning style.  I often involve the student in choosing the songs they want to learn.  We use a variety of techniques, games, colours, stickers, rhythm instruments, etc to help the student learn the concepts and to have fun while learning. I believe in keeping my students engaged, in helping them to be relaxed as they learn and to show them that learning music is fun because music itself is fun!
